Who can afford 43,000 euros at home…
At least we got an answer to this question after the corruption scandal with the trucks transporting the equipment of the singer Robbie Williams came to light. The answer is that this could be an inspector from the "Automobile Administration". And we are not saying this - from FACTI. The head of the State Department of Internal Affairs Lyubomir Nikolov said it. Robbie Williams' composition consisted of 22 vehicles with British registration, and potential malfunctions were found in five of them. The employees of the "Automobile Administration" extorted the five foreign drivers after they stopped the trucks at around 7:20 p.m. near the "Black Cat" complex in Sofia. Two of the drivers gave 200 leva each after being forced to withdraw the money from an ATM, and a third agreed to give 300 euros. There was a language barrier between the drivers and the inspectors, and the bribes were requested via Google Translate. The inspectors who requested the bribe were later detained.
What happened next
A truck driver from the convoy notified the organizers, and then there was a signal to the British embassy. And it was precisely the fact that there was a signal to the embassy that was the basis for the case not being covered up. After the racket became public knowledge, the director of the SDVR explained that the cars, office premises and homes of the detainees were searched. 43 thousand euros and over 5 thousand leva hidden in cigarette boxes were found.
43,000 euros
Here is the question simple. How long do you need to be at work to “earn“ 43,000 euros, since your salary is around 2,000 leva. There are leva found, but they are few. And a new question follows. Why would you want to work in the “Automobile Administration“ for a starting salary of 1,400 leva? The amount increases with qualification, experience, position, etc. It is clear that you start from 1,400 leva, but with “one thing in mind“. Every duty on the road brings “bonuses“.
The big problem
The big problem is how you become one. Do you go to work with the clear awareness that the salary is small, but there are “bonuses“. Or do you go to work with the clear awareness that you want to be clean before your conscience. And here comes the role of the “family“, as magistrates expressed it some time ago, after we witnessed the murder of Martin Bozanov - the Notary. The human dilemma is whether you join the “family“, or you will lose your job because “colleagues“ do not trust you. And once you join the “family“, you defend both yourself and your colleagues.
And these 43,000 euros are just random money. There was trouble, checks were carried out, there were detainees and that's how they were discovered. And how many thousands of euros have passed before that… Apparently, this is how civil servants have long accepted the euro, even though it will become the official currency in our country from 2026.
