While we publicly swear by European values, behind the scenes – quietly, on tiptoe and on our knees&rdash; Bulgaria has uncomplainingly joined Donald Trump's "Council for Peace" coalition. That may have already turned out to be a mistake… A coalition in which nothing depends on us, except our willingness to nod. Without debate. Without position. Without dignity. Despite the clearly stated European boycott. Despite common sense. Despite our own Constitution, if you will. It somehow looks like a news show for the insane – to give something to the journalists and the people.

And here the question is no longer whether this is a foreign policy failure. The question is: are we buying ourselves? Are we buying ourselves for “Magnitsky“?

Because joining this initiative does not come from a strong state with legitimate governance, but from a cabinet in resignation, sent by a government swept off the streets. The decision was made secretly, “by signature“, in the Council of Ministers – without public discussion, without an official announcement, without even a basic attempt at explanation. According to Borisov. Out of habit.

The same Borisov, around whom the entire power architecture orbits. The same model, in which Peevski is the unpronounceable name, and the “Magnitsky“ list “ the shameful secret that everyone is trying to sweep under the geopolitical carpet. And when we see how Bulgaria “voluntarily“ enters into a Trump project, against which Europe stands at a distance, the logical question is: what exactly is being negotiated and for whom?

Later – as always – The Council of Ministers announces post facto that it has given a mandate for signing, and the parliament is yet to ratify. This same parliament, formed with electoral violations established by the Constitutional Court.

Ratification will pass through the hands of people who call citizens “sluts“, who do not want to listen to “Sulio and Pulio from who knows where“, who physically stop the opposition from speaking. And it is they who will decide fateful issues of foreign policy. People who should not be deciding anything more important than whether to buy bread.

And all this is “sold“ to us as state policy. As a national interest. As “for the people“.

No. This looks like bargaining. An attempt at geopolitical redemption. A gesture to the strongman of the day with the hope that the list “Magnitsky“ to become shorter, to drop names, so to speak. Or at least quieter.

“For the people“ – but without people.
“For the state“ – but without statehood.
“For the man“ – and his “Magnitsky“.
