Electing a patriarch with pro-Russian views could prove to be a big problem, despite the declining influence of the BOC.
This is because Orthodoxy is currently the main ideological tool of the Kremlin. It has largely replaced communism as an ideology to subjugate other peoples - admittedly, not with the same momentum. But all the Russian Orthodox churches - which erupted all over the world - became a center for propaganda not only to Russian émigrés and other Orthodox, but also a home for Russian agents, far from the eyes of local authorities.

Bulgaria is in an even worse situation, because the BOC itself placed itself in a subordinate position to the ROC,
as was convincingly demonstrated with the case study of the temporarily closed Russian church. But the problem is not only the laity who fall under the blows of her propaganda.
The state honors with which Neophyte was buried and Daniel was ceremonially elevated to the post are according to the Russian model of merging state and church. We saw not only pretend politicians who should symbolically protect the secular state, but also guards (!) in the temple.
This speaks of a deliberate insertion of the BOC into Bulgaria's political agenda. We are already seeing an overexposure of the importance of Orthodoxy for the relationship between the Russian and Bulgarian people - as Ukrainians, Greeks and Romanians are skillfully omitted. Of course, we cannot expect someone like Radev to talk about history with historical facts and to emphasize the role of Bulgarian Orthodoxy in building first the Ukrainian nation, and only then the Russian and Russia.
Far more important is another - that data from the Russian imperial Orthodoxy, currently led by the Russian services, infiltrates the theses of their speakers in our country all the way to the presidency. Probably the most popular is the wrong interpretation about peace, about Good and Evil (which we heard yesterday from the new patriarch), about Satan (which is the West), about the “traditional family” and the genders.
This is happening at a time when the entire political space is being rearranged. The left horse (BSP) and the right horse (GERB) are already lame horses of the Status Quo about to expire, and the main bolt of the System - DPS is about to break. That is why new options for assembling the political spectrum to be subordinated to the Kremlin are being feverishly sought.
It has long been clear that Radev is the key figure of the new Left, and it seems a matter of timing when he will leave his post and head it.
His party or coalition is expected to consolidate this 25-30% Russophile vote,
which is now scattered between several parties. The changes in the BSP are also in this direction. The main denominator is geopolitical, not so left - hatred of the West and everything related to it.
But it will be difficult to get a majority in parliament with this vote. Therefore, a new right-wing (ah, how modern it is again), conservative party is heating up. There are no Russophiles there because most people are pro-European - but there is a highly injected hatred of ”liberals” in the context of gender, debauchery and gay marriage, which will “destroy” the Bulgarian society - hence promotion of the Christian (i.e. Orthodox (!)) family, which should solve the demographic problem.
At the head of these marches for a traditional family are usually persons without families, but necessarily adorned with crosses. A funding body is a foundation, on whose board we see faces on screen during almost the entire Transition - in different roles according to its phase - with a launched professional as well as business biography. Casting is still being done for the leading person of this new party, which should replace GERB. It is very likely that he will use “Blue Bulgaria”, which - raised some kind of mystical right wing and the hatred for “liberals” into a cult. - is a great foundation.
And so together - with the ideology of the Russian Orthodox Church and the methods of the KGB - a re-engineering of the political space will be achieved until finally the "stability" craved by the Kremlin.
