American Terence Crawford won the title of absolute world boxing champion in the 76.2 kg category. In a 12-round fight, which took place in Las Vegas (USA), he defeated Mexican Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision of the judges. The fight was attended by 70,482 people, which became a new attendance record for "Allegiant Stadium", BTA reported.
All three judges gave the victory to Crawford - 115:113, 115:113, 116:112.
The 37-year-old American earned the belts of the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF). He was also awarded the first-ever WBC absolute world champion ring.
Crawford remains undefeated in the professional ring with 42 wins (31 by knockout). He holds the record for the longest winning streak among current world champions. The American debuted in the 76.2 kg category and became the world champion in the fifth weight category. He won belts in prestigious versions in the categories up to 61.23 kg, 63.5 kg, 66.68 kg and 69.9 kg, and also became the absolute world champion in the third category, having previously collected all the belts from the prestigious versions in the categories up to 63.5 kg and up to 66.68 kg.
Crawford became the first boxer in history to win the title of absolute world champion in three weight categories, when the number of professional versions expanded to four. He held the WBO world champion title in the 66.68 kg category from 2018 to 2024, defending it seven times.
