The Greek team defeated Finland 92:89 (24:15, 24:19, 21:22, 23:33) in the small final of the European Basketball Championship in Riga and won the bronze medals, BTA reported.
The Greeks led comfortably by 14 points at halftime, but the Scandinavians systematically began to close the gap in the third half and had complete superiority in the fourth, with only three points separating the two teams in the end. Seconds before the end, Greece led by a point, but Antetokounmpo won an important fight and was fouled, making both free throws.
Giannis Antetokounmpo was above everyone on the court with 29 points and 17 rebounds. The Milwaukee Bucks' NBA leader also added 6 assists. Tyler Dorsey scored 20 points for Bulgaria's southern neighbor.
Finland's ace Lauri Markkanen finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds, Elias Valtonen scored 18 for the Finns and grabbed five rebounds.
The final between Germany and Turkey will start tonight at 9 p.m. Bulgarian time.
