Former NBA guard Patrick Beverly was arrested and charged with assault in what Texas police described as a "domestic violence" incident, the AP reported, quoted by BTA.
Beverly, 37, was arrested in Rosharon, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said. Bail is set at $40,000.
Patrick Beverly has urged people to "not believe everything you see on the internet" on social media.
The basketball player also republished an unsigned statement in which he said he unexpectedly found his underage sister alone with an 18-year-old man.
"He was understandably concerned, as any brother would be for his sister. However, we do not believe that what happened next occurred in the manner described. We look forward to the opportunity to discuss this in court," the statement said.
Beverly last played in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. He previously played for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and several other teams during his 12-year career.
