Juha Kankunen, who is a 4-time world champion and is currently Toyota's deputy boss in the World Rally Championship, believes that Sebastien Ogier is the greatest driver in the history of rallying. As is known, Ogier won his ninth world title and tied with his compatriot Sebastien Loeb in this indicator, reports sportal.bg.
„The battle for the world title was extremely contested, and Seb and Elfin Evans decided it in the last stage of the last rally of the year – explained the legendary Finn. – I think Seb has shown that he is the best driver in the world right now and maybe even of all time because he equalled Loeb's record of nine world titles, doing it with three different manufacturers.“
And Loeb's nine titles are with Citroen, while Ogier took his first four titles with Volkswagen, then two more with M-Sport and Ford, and the last three came with Toyota.
“I also won my titles with three different manufacturers, but I only won four titles&rdash; added Kankunen. – What Seb has done puts him in first place for me. Nine titles with cars from three different brands. That means he is the best driver, at least in my opinion.“
Cancun also praised Elfin Evans, who is fighting Ogier for the world title for the third time and the Frenchman beat him again.
“Elfin had a fantastic season – said Cancun. – He didn't make any mistakes, he started first in the stages for most of the season and cleared the way for his rivals, but he was very consistent and it's great that he is staying and will fight for the title again next year.“
