Nikola Tsolov finished seventh in his Formula 2 debut for the Qatar Grand Prix, reports BTA. The Bulgarian driver of Campos Racing ends the penultimate round of the car championship with an excellent performance, after missing the podium by less than a lap on Saturday.
Today, Tsolov started seventh in Lusail and maintained a steady pace for almost the entire race. He lost position for the first time on the third lap and dropped to seventh place, and in the middle of the race he was penalized with five seconds for violating the safety regulations. Thus, Tsolov reached the tenth position, but in the final laps he made three overtakes and finished seventh, 15.9 seconds behind the winner Victor Martin (France, ART Grand Prix).
Thus, Tsolov earned six points in his first race in Formula 2, where he will drive throughout 2026. Last year, he was part of Formula 3, again with Campos Racing.
Second in today's race was Leonardo Fornaroli (Italy, Invicta Racing), who became champion in his debut season in the second-strongest car race. In 2024, he was also the champion in Formula 3.
