The new Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris speaks calmly and without so many emotions that overwhelmed him immediately after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix final.
„The truth is that the last laps were very long. Then I had the opportunity to drive slower and look at the people in the stands. But a few tears blurred the visor of my helmet, this did not prevent me from enjoying these last minutes in the car before the final. I knew this might be the first and last time, but I hope it won't be the last time," Norris began.
“You can make up any picture you want of me, describe me however you want, but I've always tried to be as honest and natural as possible. Sometimes I've said things that not everyone agreed with, maybe they were controversial, but I've always tried to be myself, I've always tried to do things my way. I want to do things my way.
A lot of people said I should be more aggressive, that I should do this or that, but you were all wrong, because I didn't listen to anyone and still won. I'm proud of the fact that I won without having to be someone else, pretend to be someone else. I stayed true to myself, I stayed the good guy on the track and I always competed as correctly as possible, as honestly as possible.
I could have taken more risks, I could have done more bad things on the track, pushed others off the track, that's not difficult at all, but I prefer to do things the way I want. I feel even more proud that I achieved my goal this way“, Norris concluded.
