Manchester City take on Real Madrid, Arsenal take on Bruges in Belgium - 1

Manchester City won their away game against Real Madrid 2-1 in a match from the sixth round in the main phase of the Champions League.

At the “Santiago Bernabeu“ Rodrigo opened the scoring with a low shot on a counterattack for the hosts in the 28th minute, with City looking unconvincing in defence almost every time the "Whites" dared to go forward in the first half hour.

At the end of the half, however, the English team managed to score two goals and make a complete turnaround. First, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois failed to make a convincing save from a relatively easy header from Josko Guardiola, and Nico O'Reilly converted the rebound in the 35th minute.

Eight minutes later, defender Antonio Rudiger awarded a penalty after bringing down Erling Haaland as he attempted to meet a cross in the penalty area, and the Norwegian striker was accurate from the spot.

Real star Kylian Mbappe was in the squad but did not feature.

The result lifted Pep Guardiola's men to fourth place in the standings with 13 points from six matches, while Real Madrid slipped to seventh with 12. It increased the pressure on coach Xabi Alonso as the team's poor run extended to just two wins and eight matches in all competitions in the last five weeks.

Arsenal continued their perfect run in the tournament with a 3-0 win over Club Brugge. Noni Madueke scored twice and Gabriel Martinelli provided the final score, with which Arsenal achieved a sixth success in six matches.

The Gunners are at the top of the standings with a total asset of 18 points and have taken a big step towards qualifying directly for the last 16.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain finished 0-0 as a guest at Athletic Bilbao.

A series of excellent saves by home goalkeeper Unai Simon prevented the French champions from winning the match.

Luis Enrique's team had the better chances, but Simon saved several great shots, and the absence of the ill Ousmane Dembele was felt in the visitors' attack.

The result left PSG in third place in the standings of 36 teams with 13 points from six matches, while Bilbao is 28th with five points, two points off the play-off places.

Paris Saint-Germain next face Sporting Lisbon, while Bilbao will visit Atalanta.

In other matches, Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 with Newcastle, and Borussia Dortmund finished with the same result with Boulogne/Glimt.

Bruno's own goal Guimaraes gave Bayer Leverkusen the lead in the 13th minute, but Anthony Gordon's penalty and Louis Miley's goals turned the game around for Newcastle. Leverkusen, however, salvaged a point thanks to Alejandro Grimaldo's 88th-minute strike.

Borussia Dortmund took the lead in the 18th minute through Julian Brandt, but Boudeaux/Glimt equalised in the 42nd through Haitham Alessami. Brand scored a second goal shortly after the start of the second half, but Jens Hauge made it 2-2 for the visitors in the 75th minute.

Juventus beat Paphos 2-0, while Benfica won 2-0 against Napoli.

Juventus achieved their first home victory in the Champions League this season, thanks to second-half goals from Weston McKennie and Jonathan David.

The teams were level on points going into the match and Paphos proved to be more than a match for their more illustrious Italian opponents for long spells, but Juventus achieved their second successive success in the competition.

The Italian team is 17th in the standings with 9 points, while Paphos is 26th with 6 points, with the top eight teams qualifying for the knockout phase and the next 16 entering the play-offs for the remaining eight places.

Benfica's Richard Rios scored one goal and set up Leandro Barreiro's second to secure a crucial 2-0 win over Napoli, boosting the Portuguese side's hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The result revived Benfica's European campaign, securing a second successive success after a poor start and lifting them to 25th place with 6 points, just one place off the play-off spots. Napoli slipped to 23rd with 7 points.
