The eternal Lindsey Vonn won the downhill in St. Moritz a year after returning to the slopes, which was her 83rd World Cup victory and 44th in downhill.
It was her first success in the discipline in seven and a half years. "I got on the phone with my dad and he was crying as hard as I've ever heard him. "It means a lot to me," the American told Swiss television SRF, quoted by AFP.
She has been absent from the sport for five years and when she returns in 2024 there were many skeptics, especially since she wears a titanium prosthesis that partially replaces her right knee.
Over the summer, she began working with her new coach and friend - Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal, gaining 5 kg of muscle weight.
"My body responds to all the desires of my mind, and that hasn't always been the case lately. "Now I can do everything, I feel like a kid again," the 41-year-old American said.
Lindsey Vonn hopes she can save some of her energy to stay in good shape and attack the Olympic title in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in February.
