Hristo Yanev: Fifth place is never good for CSKA, we are fighting for Europe - 1

CSKA head coach Hristo Yanev spoke to reporters at the "Sofia" airport after the team's return to Bulgaria. The coach revealed that the goal for the "Reds" is participation in the European tournaments, Sportal.bg reported.

"We did a very good job. The boys tried to do everything we wanted. We prepared well physically. We played good controls. Everything was as we planned. In each team, one player can leave at any time. At this stage, you saw the group that got off the plane. These are the people we will continue to work with.

I currently have a good group of players. I'm focused on what I have to do with them. We also look at the opponents. We look at what we do as a job. I hope the things we've done will be useful to us when the championship starts.

I talk to the players every day. My job is to train the players on the field. Both Eto'o and Delova are focused on the work we have. We have to work with them to improve their form. Eto'o is serious about the process. The team is taking him very well. I hope he prepares well and will be a key part of the team.

The team is taking the new additions well. They show a great desire to impress us as quickly as possible. I dare say that they are positive about the process we are leading. Piedraita has a slight problem in the thigh area, but it is nothing serious. In the coming days, he will resume training.

Fifth place is never good for CSKA. Based on what we had at the start of the season, it is better than what we found. Our goal is to climb the standings so that the team can play in European tournaments. This is the task that everyone in the club has. We have to work in this direction", said Yanev.

CSKA returned to Bulgaria after the two-week camp it held in Antalya. In our southeastern neighbor, the "army" played four tests, in which they recorded one win, one draw and two losses. In a week, Hristo Yanev's team will end its winter preparation with a test against Dunav (Ruse). In the first spring round, Sofia hosts Arda at the "Vasil Levski" National Stadium.
