The football match from the 22nd round of the efbet League between the teams of Lokomotiv (Sofia) and Septemvri will not take place tomorrow (Sunday, February 22), as scheduled, the “railway” club announced.
The reason is the snow that fell in Sofia and the inability to prepare the field for the match.
"The match between Lokomotiv and Septemvri has been postponed! At the suggestion of both clubs, given the adverse weather conditions and in order to protect the health of the players, the match from the 22nd round of the PPFL (efbet League) between the teams of Lokomotiv and Septemvri (Sofia), scheduled for 22.02.2026, is postponed," says the statement of FC Lokomotiv Sofia 1929.
Another match in the First League, as well as three in the Second League, will not take place for the same reason.
The management of Levski came out with an official position in which it expressed its desire for the match with CSKA 1948 in Bistritsa to be played as scheduled tomorrow, February 22, at 4:45 p.m. The match is in question due to the snow that has accumulated in the last hours, and at this stage the pitch at the "Vitosha" stadium has not been cleaned..
"Dear supporters and media,
In connection with the many questions surrounding the conduct of our match with CSKA 1948, which is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, 22.02.2026 at 16:45), we would like to remind you of the official procedure under the regulations.
According to section six, art. 21, para. 12-14 of the Regulation on the championships and tournaments for the 2025/2026 season, available at this link:
- For reasons beyond the control of the teams, the football match may start with a delay at the discretion of the officials, who submit an additional report to the relevant administering body (Art. 21, para. 12).
- When, due to unavoidable reasons, the game must be temporarily interrupted and if, in the opinion of the referee, it cannot be resumed in a short time, he is obliged, at his own discretion, to wait a certain time and then announce that he is interrupting the football match, describing in detail what happened in a report to the body administering the championship (Art. 21, para. 13).
- A football match in professional football that did not start or finish due to bad weather conditions or for other reasons specified in para. 13, is played the next day, at the same stadium, at the same time and with the same referees, except for the exceptions explicitly described in art. 26 (art. 21, para. 14).
In practice, this means that:
- The decisions to start, temporarily interrupt, wait and possibly terminate the match are within the powers of the referee and the match officials, within the framework of the cited texts.
- In case of bad weather conditions or other unavoidable reasons, the regulation provides for the match to be played/held the next day, under the same parameters, unless one of the exceptions specified in the Regulation is applicable.
- The clubs cannot unilaterally cancel or change the holding of the match, but they can express their opinion to the officials.
