Zinedine Zidane has reached a verbal agreement with the French Football Federation (FFF) to become the coach of the country's national team, reports "Le Parisien".
According to the information, the 53-year-old Frenchman has agreed on the terms with the leadership of French football.
The publication of "Le Parisien" came just hours after FFF president Philippe Diallo announced that he already knew who would be the next head coach of the French national team.
However, an official announcement is unlikely to be made until the team leaves for the United States to ensure that current coach Didier Deschamps has the best possible conditions to prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
Zidane previously coached Real Madrid from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021.
