The Bulgarian men's national rugby team lost 0:48 (0:10) to the strong Ukrainian team in its second match from Group “C“ of the “Conference“ Division of the European Championship. The match was played in Chisinau at the “Dynamo“ stadium, and the Ukrainians dominated throughout the match, BTA reported.
After the first half, the Ukrainian team led 10:0, although the Bulgarian selection showed a good face and did not give up until the very end. Despite the entry into the game even on the eve of the new national coach Ivaylo Ivanov, the picture did not change and the “lions“ they failed to score even a point against the well-structured opponent's team, and in the end they were physically eliminated.
The Ukrainians scored 7 tries, 5 of which were full and scored one penalty.
With this success, Ukraine wins the group, as it also has victories over the other two teams - Moldova and Turkey. The Turks are at the bottom of the standings without an asset, and Moldova and Bulgaria have one victory each.
The next match for the Bulgarian national rugby team is in Sofia - next Saturday (April 25), when the Moldova team will play at the “Lokomotiv” stadium in a direct clash for 2nd place. Only the winner of the group gets the right to play a playoff to promote the team to the “Division Trophy“, which is the second level of rugby in Europe. The Ukrainian team was considered a favorite even before the start of the matches, as they were relegated from this division.
