Carlos Nassar wants to be an example to kids, he wants to send good messages and he wants to become a legend.
We can say that he is on the right track! The Olympic champion and world record holder in weightlifting in cat. up to 89 kg gave himself a few days of rest and again took up the pleasant duties of any champion - to be among the fans, sign autographs and inspire, showing the Olympic gold medal from Paris. The meeting with supporters who wanted to touch him lasted for 6 hours. And in front of bTV, Carlos hinted at the things that lie ahead.
"I am a person with very high goals. Even in my first interview I said that my dream was Olympic gold. Not European, not world champion. I always aimed for the highest and that's why I succeeded. There are things that need to be improved. I would like to keep myself as a person. In sports, we are professionals - we will upgrade and become better in terms of strength and technique. We are working on it. We are not missing because the whole nation is expecting it and has trusted me to present the flag and the tricolor. I can't afford to give them up!", he shared and added: "I've already achieved everything I've dreamed of. From here on out I was going to do things that would make me a legend. We are a very talented people and we really need to show people that we can.
Nassar tries to pay attention to the smallest, to the children who are around him at every opportunity.
"At the time in Bulgaria there were many wrong examples that children followed. I hope that I am one of the good examples that they can follow and lead their way. When a man reaps great success, he loses most of his human qualities. I want to escape from this situation because it has happened to me. I want to preserve myself as a person first," he declared.
The Olympic champion says that he still hasn't shaken off the emotions from Paris.
"The feeling is amazing. It's something you've fought for all your life. A positive moment that will remain in my memories for a lifetime. The medal, in general, is nothing to me without the support of the people. So now I will show it to all my fans who supported me. They are my main strength. I want to thank them," Nassar said.
Soon he will dive deep into his preparations again, with the World Weightlifting Championships coming up in Bahrain in December.
