Carlos Alcaraz: They want to kill us in some way - 1

Carlos Alcaraz expressed his displeasure with the busy tennis calendar and said that from the outside it looks as if the ATP "want to kill" players with high physical demands. He said this after his 6-4, 6-4 victory over American Ben Shelton earlier in the week.

"I predict that the tournaments will only grow over the next few years. It's as if they want to kill us in some way," he said, quoted by the DPA agency.

"At the moment we have a large number of injured tennis players. The reason is most likely complex and one of the problems must be the calendar. I expect the cases in which tennis players miss tournaments en masse due to injuries caused by the large number of matches will become more frequent.

Britain Jack Draper recently said the schedule was "crazy". He did so after traveling from the US Open to Manchester to play in the Davis Cup.
