The goalkeeper of Northern Ireland after the pogrom over ours: It was Wow! - 1

Northern Ireland teenage goalkeeper Piers Charles admitted he was surprised by the incredible atmosphere at "Windsor Park" on Tuesday evening, when Northern Ireland beat Bulgaria 5-0 in the Nations League, reported Topsport.

The result took Michael O"Neill's side top of the group, with Charles hoping to retain his starting place in the squad for the games against Belarus and Luxembourg next month.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper made his debut for the national team last weekend in the 0:0 draw against Belarus in Hungary, and recorded a second "dry" network and gave a request that it can be relied on in the future.

"When I was leaving for the start of the match, the powerful roar from the stands surprised me," Charles explained.

"It was "Wow!" It was such an amazing atmosphere and the fans brought so much passion to the match. It was a dream night to win 5-0 at home in front of our fans," added the goalkeeper, quoted by the "Belfast Telegraph".

Charles, who came through Manchester City's Academy, impressed with his performances for Northern Ireland's under-19 and under-21 sides.

"Before the game manager O"Neill said he wanted to see what we had been working on in training and obviously we went out there and got that job done and he was very happy for us after the game.

I think the result will be a big boost for us knowing what type of performance we can get next cycle and I'm sure we can get results then. Everyone went wild after the game. Everyone in the dressing room was smiling and happy."

Joining Charles in the starting line-up for the second game in a row was his older brother Shay Charles, who is also at Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Southampton. The midfielder also played at a level on Tuesday in the special night for the Charles family.

"Many of our relatives were at the match. "My mother was at the match, we also had aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends," said the goalkeeper.

"Everyone is happy for us. It's amazing that Shay and I are at the same club now and to play with each other in the national team, it's great."
