Rosenov and Cholov will fight for the gold of the European under-23 - 1

Radoslav Rosenov and William Cholov will fight for the gold medals at the European Boxing Championship for men and women under 23 in Sofia, Topsport reported.

The champion in the category up to 60 kilograms in the last two years, Rosenov played another very good match at the tournament in the "Sofia" hall. The national team of Bulgaria qualified for the final of the championship after defeating the representative of Montenegro, Tomislav Djinovic. Rosenov imposed his will in a tough battle. He was able to gain an advantage with faster and sharper movements against the constantly charging opponent and in the end congratulated himself with success with a 5-0 judge's vote. For the gold on Sunday, the Bulgarian representative will meet Artur Sahakyan (Armenia).

At 75 kg, Cholov had a very strong match with Serbian Almir Memic and deserved his place in the final. The Bulgarian international found the distance in an excellent way against his tough opponent. With very precise and accurate actions, he countered every attempt at more powerful blows from the Serbian and in a decisive manner congratulated himself with a clean victory by 5:0 judges' votes, taking all three rounds by this score.

The success sends Cholov to the final of the European Championship. There on Sunday he will meet Jamal Kuliev (Ukraine).

The last Bulgarian representative in the semi-finals, Rumen Rumenov, was overcome by great bad luck. In the 67kg category, Rumenov had to settle for defeat against Armenian Harutyun Khakobkohian after the fight was stopped at the end of the first round following a ridiculous incident. The two butted heads, resulting in a serious arcing of both Rumenov's and Hakobhyan's heads. As a result, the match had to be stopped, and the judges gave a 3:2 vote in favor of the Armenian. Thus, the Bulgarian remains with the bronze distinction.

The men's finals will be held on Sunday at 16:00 in the hall "Sofia" with free entry. On Friday at 18:30 the Bulgarian Boxing Federation will celebrate one hundred years of organized boxing in Bulgaria. The celebrations, to which all sports fans are invited, are expected to be attended by many champions and medalists from the Olympic Games, world and European championships, and the program will also be accompanied by three demonstration matches.
