American Taylor Fritz beats Alexander Zverev to reach Turin final

Taylor Fritz has qualified for the title match of the ATP Finals in Turin (Italy) with a prize fund of 15.25 million euros . The American dramatically prevailed over world number two Alexander Zverev 6:3, 3:6, 7:6 (3).

Fifth-seeded Fritz hit 32 match winners to become the first player to break through against the German this week, winning the match in dramatic fashion after two hours and 20 minutes. The American has won four in a row against Zverev and has a total of seven successes in 12 matches against the representative of Germany.

Taylor Fritz is a semi-finalist in the 2022 tournament and will finish the season ranked fourth in the world if Casper Ruud does not triumph with the title on Sunday. This would be the record finish for an American at the end of the season since 2006. James Blake was then in fifth position after playing for the ATP Finals title.

Fritz took a 4:1 and 5:3 lead in the third set tiebreak against Zverev, securing ultimate success at his first opportunity.
