The president of Olympique Lyonnais John Textor will cover the debts of the club in the amount of 100 million to keep their place in the elite division of the French football championship, reports the agency RMC Sport.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that next season Olympique Lyon will play in the second strongest division of the French football championship due to financial problems.
To pay off the debts, Texter intends to sell his shares in the English Crystal Palace.
"This is much more money than Lyon needs. There is no way we can fail. If this money is secured, we will not invest all of it in Lyon, but will split it with other subsidiary companies," announced American businessman John Texter.
