Carlos Nassar won the weightlifting tournament again " "Milen Dobrev". The event is being organized for the ninth time in Plovdiv and in memory of the great athlete, BTA reported.

Nassar was left without competition after collecting 478,369 points on the "Sinclair" system. The Paris 2024 Olympic champion finished with a 400kg bout, falling 4kg short of his world record. The 20-year-old weightlifter from Cherven Bryag made three successful attempts at throwing, passing 170, 175 and 180 kg without any problems. In the push, the graduate of Pavel Hristov started at 210 kg, then managed 220 kg and gave up on his third attempt.

Valentin Genchev (Apollon, Stara Zagora) came second with 410,068 points and a fight of 299 kg (129+170), ahead of Dian Pamporjiev (Maritsa Plovdiv) with 405,470 points and 293 kg (128+165). Vasil Marinov from Atlas (Sliven) remained at the foot of the honors with 397.993 points and a 360 kg bout (165+195).

For women, the national Galya Shatova (Karlovo) earned the title with 270.423 points and a score of 205 kg (91+114). Serbian Tamara Arunovic came second with 254.942 and 200 kg (92+108 kg), ahead of Boyana Kostadinova (Maritsa) with 243.915 and 156 kg (71+85).

The race was a dress rehearsal for the World Championships in Manama (Bahrain_ from December 4-14.

In the cadets up to 17 years old, the title was taken by the host representative Ivo Ibryam with 355.159 points and a fight of 283 kg (128+155). Jesus Kirilov (Hercules Sofia) placed second with 344.234 and 215 kg (97+118), ahead of Simeon Muskov (Maritsa) with 337.315 and 301 kg (131+170).

The tournament in Plovdiv continues today with competitions for children up to 13 years old, cadets up to 15 years old and girls. The youth competition is named after the legendary Plovdiv barbell coach - Gancho Karushkov.

This time in Plovdiv competitors from Romania, Albania, Serbia, Greece and Croatia are participating. The main sponsors are the Municipality of Plovdiv, "Central Gaming Club" and dairy products Vanilla.
