Napoli temporarily took the lead in the Italian Serie A after winning 2:1 as an away team against Genoa in a match of the 17th round. The victory for Antonio Conte's players was forged within eight minutes in the first half, when Frank Zambo Angisa scored in the 15th minute and Amir Rahmani after that.
Napoli now has 38 points and is one more ahead of the previous leader Atalanta, who hosts Empoli tomorrow and can regain the top spot with a win.
For Genoa, this is the first defeat under the leadership of their French coach Patrick Vieira and they are in 13th place with 16 points. Alessandro Bongiorno is still missing for Napoli, but the Georgian sharpshooter Khvicha Kvaratskhelia returned to the bench and even appeared on the field in the 73rd minute. But in the 5th minute, Romelu Lukaku could have opened the scoring after overcoming a defender and goalkeeper Nicola Leali, but the ball stopped at the top of the crossbar.
In the 15th minute, Angisa overcame two defenders in the penalty area, after previously receiving a pass from David Neres and scored. The second goal came in a rather strange way. Stanislav Lobotka took a free kick, Rahmani hit the ball perhaps with his head, with his shoulder and from the body of Vitinya it went into the far corner, becoming unsaveable for goalkeeper Leali.
In the 36th minute, Scott McTominay scored a third goal for the southerners, but it was canceled due to an offside by Matteo Politano.
50 seconds after the restart of the second half, Alex Meret saved Napoli's lead, saving a shot by Andrea Pinamonti. Pinamonti, however, got his revenge and scored for 1:2 in the 51st minute after a pass from Vitinha.
The totally transformed Genoa team continued to attack and in the 65th minute of the match Milan Badel again forced Meret to save with a header.
After entering, Kvaratskhelia had one chance to score a third goal, but missed. In the 83rd minute, Mario Balotelli appeared on the field for Genoa, who also had a chance to score, but he also missed.
