Levski broke the record for foreigners! Never in its centuries-old history has the club used so many foreign players during the season, writes in today's issue of the “Mach Telegraf“.
To date, a total of 27 players have played for the "blues", and 17 of them were foreigners, including Klement Ikena, whom the club transferred to Ukraine during the winter break. This is exactly 62.96%, which significantly beats Levski's previous peak achievement in this regard - the 2017/18 season, when foreign players were 54.29%.
The trend of "Gerena" does not differ from that in the efbet League, where the record for the use of foreigners globally was also recently broken.
The dissection of the history of "Gerena" legionnaires shows that for the first time in its history, Levski strengthened itself with them during the distant 1993/94 season. Then, three foreigners played out of a total of 27 players, which makes 11.11%.
Over the next 5 seasons, the trend was reversed - there were fewer legionnaires - 1994/95 - 1 out of 23 (4.35%), and 1998/99 - 3 out of 32 (9.38%). In the three seasons between them, there was not a single foreigner playing for Levski.
The real big boom was in the 2000/01 season, when as many as 31.43% of the "blue" players were foreign players. After that, with minor deviations, Levski tended to use fewer and fewer Bulgarians.
