Armand Duplantis became champion in the pole vault at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, which are being held in Nanjing, China. The 25-year-old Swede finished with a best result of 6.15 meters and congratulated himself with a third world indoor title.
Duplantis is a two-time Olympic and world champion in the discipline.
In second position with a national record was the bronze medalist from Paris 2024 Emmanuel Karalis from Greece with a result of 6.05 meters. Third was American Sam Kendricks, who is a two-time world champion, as well as vice-champion of the Olympics in the French capital less than a year ago.
In the women's triple jump, Leyanis Perez Hernandez won the gold medal. The Cuban celebrated her final success with a world-best result for the season of 14.93 meters. This is the first indoor title for the 23-year-old Hernandez. So far, she had a bronze medal from the world championship in Hungary in 2023.
Liadagmis Povea (Cuba) remained in second place with 14.57 meters, and Spain's Ana Pelleteiro-Campaore came in third (14.29 meters).
Grant Holloway became the champion in the 60-meter hurdles. The 27-year-old American finished in 7.42 seconds and celebrated his third indoor title in his career. Holloway is the Olympic champion in the 110-meter hurdles from Paris 2024.
Mujinda Kambunji became the first in the women's 60 meters. The Swiss representative covered the distance in 7.04 seconds and triumphed with the second indoor title of her career. The 32-year-old Kambunji is a bronze medalist from Doha 2019.
Christopher Bailey congratulated himself with the first place in the 400 meters. The American, who is the Olympic and world champion in the 4x400 meters relay, finished in 45.08 seconds.
In the same women's discipline, the champion was the bronze medalist in the Paris 2024 relays Amber Anning. The Briton crossed the finish line in 50.60 seconds.
Jacob Ingebritsen won the gold medal in the 3000 meters. The Norwegian, who is the Olympic and world champion in the 5000 meters, finished with a time of 7:46.09 minutes. This is Ingebritsen's best personal best of the season.
Ethiopian Freweini Hailu triumphed in the women's 3000. The title is her second indoors.
The World Athletics Championships in China continue until Sunday.
