Lachezar Tanev on CSKA: Building a new stadium doesn't mean you'll play better - 1

Lachezar Tanev believes that Georgi Ivanov has good ideas for implementation at the head of the Bulgarian Football Union, but hopefully he finds the right people so that the theory can be put into practice. The football agent also spoke about Ludogorets' continued hegemony in the First League, as well as the development of the other two leading clubs - CSKA and Levski.

In front of BNT, he also crossed out the topic of the reconstruction of the "Bulgarian Army" stadium.

Mr. Tanev, do you see a team that will break Ludogorets' hegemony in the near future?

At this stage, they continue to be favorites. They have a stable team, they are working seriously, they have built their house a long time ago. I see an improvement in the organization and in many other things, as well as in the players in Levski and CSKA. It will inevitably be good for Bulgarian football if we have three, four, five classy teams. This raises the level not only of domestic football, but also of the national team.

With the construction of the new CSKA stadium, do you think that the team will start playing better and the positive results will come better?

Building a new stadium does not mean that you will play better. It is rather the opposite. The first thing is to have a good squad and everything else, CSKA I know that they certainly do it, and they will try to do it - like a new stadium, an improved football base, a new base for the children and youth school. These are some serious investments that must be supported by a good team. All this helps this team, but you have to have a strong squad. From there - fan relations, stores, merchandising. Look what - a good team also brings positive financial results and success.

What do you think of Aleksandar Tomas's work?

The boy is trying to impose a style with ball control, faster and more technical passing. He tries to do what he can, but in the end he is not on the field. It's not that there are bad players, but I think they need better players in several positions.

Should we compare different generations, because you played with a galaxy of great players. Over the years, however, the level of Bulgarian football began to decline, to get to where we are today...

It is declining because... The topic is the same. We cannot assume that we will have good players from today to next year. This needs to be worked on, they have some methodology built in the football union, if they can put it from theory to practice. The age from 10 to 16 is basic. If you miss this period, the players should be prepared technically, they should not have any worries when the ball comes to their feet, then comes tactics, strength, power. If these things are not done consistently - it will be difficult to have a national team in the future that can go out and cope.

How is Georgi Ivanov doing as president of the Bulgarian Football Union?

Whatever I say will sound biased, you know why. I like his masculine behavior. He tries to be equally placed among all clubs and treat them in the same way. He has good ideas, but hopefully he finds the necessary people, the theory will be put into practice. Hopefully he convinces the state leadership that football has a huge social effect in all countries, a lot of attention is paid to it. When you have a lot of fields and well-prepared coaches, the kids will be there. I am lucky that my kids trained, they didn't become great athletes, but the sport shaped them and to this day they are serious and disciplined, they chase their tasks. So it is very important - on the one hand the management, and on the other hand the help of the state.
