Grigor Dimitrov will face off tonight in a semifinal match at the Miami Masters against Argentine Francisco Cerundolo - 1

Grigor Dimitrov continues his successful performance at the “Masters” tournament in Miami, and today another battle with his participation is coming up, sportal.bg reported. The new obstacle in front of him is the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, and the bet is a place in the semifinals in sunny Florida.

The meeting between the two is the third in the program on the center court, which opens at 19:00 with the duel between Iga Sviontek and Alexandra Eala.

Alexander Zverev and Artur Fiss will appear at the Stadium no earlier than 21:00, and only then will it be the turn of the Bulgarian and the Argentine.

Yesterday, the 33-year-old Grigor gave a real lecture on mastery to the young American Brendon Nakashima, eliminating him 6:4, 7:5 in an hour and 24 minutes to record his second victory in three matches against this opponent. He had previously defeated 18-year-old Italian Federico Cina 6-1, 6-4, and in the second round he made a comeback 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5 against Russian Karen Khachanov.

World No. 24 Cerundolo, on the other hand, defeated Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-2 in the 1/8 finals. The match was interrupted for a long time due to rain, but this did not upset the Argentine's game. He did not allow Ruud to reach a break point and recorded six aces and 21 winners against the Norwegian seeded No. 5. The Argentine broke his opponent in the seventh game of the first set and closed him out from the first opportunity, then achieved a break at the start of the second half. He doubled it for 4:1 and ended the match after an hour and 26 minutes.

So far, Grigor Dimitrov has met his current opponent only once - in 2023, when he defeated him 6:3, 7:5 at the grass tournament in Queens.

The 26-year-old Francisco Cerundolo is a big bite to swallow. He has not dropped a set in the tournament so far, and against Ruud he recorded his 14th victory over a Top 10 player. The Argentine has three ATP tournament titles in his collection. In 2022, he triumphed in Båstad (Sweden), the following year he became champion in Eatsburn (Great Britain), and last season he lifted the trophy in Umag (Croatia).

In 2024, Grigor Dimitrov reached the final in Miami.
