Alex Marquez (Spain, Gresini Racing) took advantage of his older brother Marc Marquez's (Ducati Lenovo) crash to win the Spanish Grand Prix in the MotoGP class of the world championship on track. This was the first victory in the career of the former Moto2 and Moto3 champion, BTA reported.

With the success, Alex has displaced Marc from first place in the overall MotoGP standings and now leads by four points.

Marc Marquez led the pack at the start of the race, but crashed midway through the third lap and ultimately finished only 12th. Alex was at least a second ahead of everyone else for the entire race and won by 1.561 ahead of Fabio Quartararo (France, Monster Energy Yamaha). Francesco Banaia (Italy, Ducati Lenovo) was third.

The Marquez brothers have won four of the five races since the start of the season, with Banaia's only exception being in the USA.

Manuel González (Spain, Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) took first place in the Moto2 class, 2.256 seconds ahead of Barry Balthus (Belgium, Fantic Racing Lino Sonego). González leads the standings by seven points ahead of Aron Canet (Spain, Fantic Racing Lino Sonego), who was eighth in Jerez.

Jose Antonio Rueda (Spain, Red Bull KTM Ajo) won in Moto3 by 4.334 seconds ahead of Ángel Piquerás (Spain, FRINSA - MT Helmets) to move to the top of the standings. Rueda has 91 points, four more than the previous leader Piquerás.
