Nikola Tsolov scored two points from the main race at the Italian track “Imola“, which hosted the third round of the 2025 Formula 3 season, reports sportal.bg.
The Bulgarian pilot started from ninth place and maintained his position at the very beginning. However, he was attacked very aggressively by his teammate in Campos at the “Tossa“ corner on the first lap, which allowed Tim Tramnitz to overtake him, which gave him 11th place.
Later, the three became part of a DRS train, which lasted until the middle of the 22-lap distance. In the second half of the race, some of the drivers had problems with their tires, which led to many attacks and exchanges of positions in the top 10.
At the beginning of this exchange, Nicola lost one position after being overtaken by Alessandro Giusti in the stop for “Rivazza 1“ on the tenth lap and was even hit by Bruno del Pino, but fortunately he escaped without significant damage to his car.
After this incident, Tsolov went into attack mode and made three overtakes against Noel Leon, Hugo Ugochukwu and Louis Sharp to return to ninth position. At the very end, Tsolov also caught up with Roman Bilinski, but did not have time to overtake the Pole, thus finishing only 0.4 seconds behind him.
At the front, Santiago Ramos managed to grab the victory after beating Rafael Camara in a direct duel. Ramos overtook the championship leader at the start, but then the Brazilian regained first position with a successful attack in the stop for “Tamburello“ on the fourth lap.
In the general standings, after his ninth place, Nikola Tsolov dropped two positions and is now sixth with an asset of 33 points and a liability of 40 to the leader Camara. Second with a gap of 22 points to the Brazilian is Strömsted, and the third with an asset of 48 points is formed by Tramnitz. Taponen (36) and today's winner Ramos (35) are the two drivers who overtook Tsolov after the main race at “Imola“.
The Formula 3 season continues in a week with the races on the street circuit in Monaco, where Nikola Tsolov won his first victory in the championship a year ago.
