Coach Ivan Juric has confirmed that Atalanta are banking on him to replace former coach Gian Piero Gasperini and insisted that his spells at Roma and Southampton were "fantastic learning experiences", BTA reported.
Juric was a somewhat surprising choice, coming off an unconvincing 2024/2025 season in which he was sacked by both Roma and Premier League side Southampton.
"We want to give a sense of continuity to the work done in recent years, and his style of football is suitable for Atalanta," explained president Antonio Percasi.
"It's a bonus for me because I don't I have performed well this season and now I have a great opportunity. It doesn't happen often, a coach's path is usually different," said Ivan Juric, quoted by football-italia.net.
"It was a negative year in a sporting sense, but a fantastic one in terms of experience. I feel much stronger than I was a year ago. I worked with excellent players at Roma, I was in the Premier League with Southampton, so these were positive stages for my development as a coach," added the Croatian specialist.
