Tottenham have reached an agreement for the transfer of Japanese defender Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale, reports the PA news agency, quoted by sportal.bg.
The 20-year-old will join the North London club in July for a fee of 5 million British pounds and will join the center of the "Spurs" defense along with Mickey van de Ven, Christian Romero, Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin.
Takai made his Japan debut in September in a 7-0 win over China in World Cup qualifying, having helped his club finish eighth in the domestic league last season.
He is Tottenham's second signing since Thomas Frank was appointed manager to replace Ange Postecoglou earlier in June and after Matthijs Telle's six-month loan from Bayern Munich was made permanent.
In 2024, Kota Takai was named Japan's Young Player of the Year after breaking into the Kawasaki team two years earlier.
