At just 20 years old, former Moto2 rider Borja Gomez died in an accident at the French track “Manicour“, Spanish media reported, quoted by sportal.bg.
The accident occurred during a test before the upcoming weekend of the JuniorGP at the French track. According to acquaintances, Gomez fell alone, then was run over by another rider, who had no way of avoiding the Spaniard.
This season, Gomez competed in the European Superstock Championship on a Honda. After the first two rounds of the season at “Estoril“ and “Jerez“ the Spaniard led the standings with 45 points after one second place and one win.
In his career, Gomez has made a total of 15 starts in the Moto2 class of the World Championship on the track, recorded in 2022 and 2023. In these, he achieved a best result of 16th place in Austria in 2023. He also made three appearances in the World Supersport Championship in 2021 and 2024. There he has two points finishes, with two 12th places in Cremona and Aragon last year with Kawasaki.
