Athletic Bilbao striker Nico Williams has signed a new eight-year contract, the club announced, BTA reported.
The contract takes effect from the summer of 2027 and will keep the Spanish international in the Basque team until the summer of 2035.
Williams, who will turn 23 next week, was a transfer target for Barcelona. However, after it became clear that the Catalans would not be able to keep him in the current financial situation at the club, he chose to sign a new contract with the team whose colors he has worn since he was ten years old.
Last season, Williams, whose brother Inaki also plays for Athletic Bilbao, scored 11 goals and made seven assists in 45 games in all competitions.
