The most successful Bulgarian footballer in recent years, Evdokia Popadinova, will continue her career in the Turkish Besiktas, after she was presented as a new signing today, BTA reported.
Popadinova, who was named number 1 among women in Bulgaria for the seventh time last year, has previously competed in Brisbane Roar in the Australian Championship. For this club, she played 19 games and scored 2 goals, with her contract expiring in May and she became a free agent.
Now she is embarking on a new challenge, signing a contract with the bronze medalist of last year's Turkish Championship. There she finds herself in quite an international company, with players from Portugal, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Kenya, Nigeria and Kosovo.
Since the introduction of professional women's football in Turkey, the Besiktas team has won the title twice and also finished in second place twice.
In addition to Australia, the 28-year-old Popadinova has played in Italy for Lazio, Napoli, Sassuolo, as well as in England, Denmark and the USA. She has 8 goals for the Bulgarian national team.
