Djokovic continues in the US, eliminates Norrie - 1

Novak Djokovic continues his participation in the US Open tennis championship after defeating Cameron Norrie 6:4, 6:7 (4), 6:2, 6:3 in the third round, reports BTA. Djokovic has seven victories from seven matches in his career against Norrie.

The Serb recorded his 192nd career victory at a Grand Slam tournament on hard courts, improving Roger Federer's all-time record for men. Nole also tied Federer for another record - the most appearances in the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for men in the Open era.

In the match, the Serb routinely took the first set 6:4, but at the end of this first part requested a medical timeout due to back pain. The Serb was also experiencing physical discomfort in the second set, which allowed Norrie to return to the match after winning the tiebreak.

In the third set, Djokovic found his rhythm again - 6:2, and also won the fourth - 6:3 to end the match.

It is interesting to note that the Serb hit a record 18 aces at Flushing Meadows. In the fourth round, he will meet German Jan-Lennard Struff, who pulled off a surprise win, defeating 2024 semifinalist Frances Tiafoe 6:4, 6:3, 7:6(7).
