Iga Swiontek had a tough time beating Anna Kalinskaya - 1

Iga Swiontek had a tough time beating Anna Kalinskaya 7:6(2), 6:4 at the US Open, BTA reports. The Pole was down 1:5 in the first set and saved four set points in the eighth game to turn the match around and win the first set after a tiebreak.

The Russian, seeded 29th, gave the "Wimbledon" champion a serious challenge in the second set as well, but Swiontek once again kept her cool and ended the match 6:4.

The match featured a total of 67 unforced errors and nine breaks, and only Swiontek's championship mentality at key moments helped her win. The win sends Swiontek into the round of 16 for the fifth consecutive year in New York, where she will face 13th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, who defeated Laura Siegemund 6-0, 6-1.

Eighth-seeded Amanda Anisimova (USA) also advances after defeating Jacqueline Cristian (Romania) 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
