Aryna Sabalenka is the women's champion of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year - the US Open for the second year in a row.
The world No. 1 triumphed in New York, defeating American Amanda Anisimova in the final with 6:3, 7:6(3) in a little over an hour and a half of play at "Arthur Ashe Stadium". Thus, she won her fourth major title and did not give her rival a chance for the first such success, as this is the second consecutive lost final for the American after her defeat at "Wimbledon".
From the opening minutes, the two tennis players threw themselves hard with the aim of winning the match. Sabalenka had to show her nerve to get her first serve of the match. Then the world No. 1 managed to break her opponent's serve and lead 2:0.
At that moment, it seemed that the Belarusian would take control of the match and dominate, but Anisimova quickly recovered and not only that, but won three consecutive games with two breaks to lead 3:2.
However, a new twist in the match followed. Sabalenka immediately returned the break for 3:3, after which she really took control of the match and did not give her opponent another game until the end of the set, closing it with 6:3 in her favor.
The second set again began with a valuable break by Sabalenka on her opponent's second serve and quickly took a 3:1 lead in the game.
However, the Belarusian again allowed a moment of lack of concentration and allowed Anisimova to return the break and equalize for 3:3.
The world No. 1 quickly recovered and in the very next game regained the initiative, making another break for 4:3.
At 5:4, Sabalenka served for the match, but the drama continued. Anisimova did not give up and managed to pull out the game to bring things to 5:5.
The set then went to a tiebreak. However, Sabalenka was in full swing there and led 6:1 points, and finally closed the set and the match 7:3 in her favor.
Thus Sabalenka won her fourth Grand Slam title and became the first tennis player to defend her US Open title since Serena Williams in 2014. This was her fourth success in clashes with Anisimova, in which, however, the American continues to lead with 6:4 victories.
