Moskvich has started producing... electric scooters - 1

The Russian plant “Moskvich“ is no longer just a place for cars – it has officially entered the micromobility segment. In cooperation with the technology giant Yandex, the Moscow enterprise has launched the production of electric scooters intended for the Yandex Go ride-sharing service.

This pilot project is part of Moskvich's ambition to become a leader in the development of its own software and hardware for urban transport.

From automobile conveyors to urban scooters

For this season, the company plans to put into operation a total of 2,000 electric scooters. The assembly process at the factory is precise and follows strict industry standards: each unit consists of 118 individual components.

Before they set foot on the city asphalt, the new scooters undergo a series of tests more typical of the automotive world:

Electronics check: Testing the software interaction and batteries.

Polygon tests: Checking the braking system and suspension on a special test track simulating real city conditions - bumps, ramps and obstacles.

Durability: Control of the strength of the assembly under intense load.

Although the project currently relies on partnerships, Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov emphasized that the strategic goal is complete localization. Moskvich now has highly qualified personnel and modern equipment, which will allow scooters to be produced on a fully Russian technological platform in the near future.

This is an important step for the Moscow technology cluster, which seeks to close the production cycle - from batteries and engines to the final control software. The new scooters will be integrated into the Yandex Go ecosystem, offering users a more modern and reliable way to get around in heavy city traffic.
