The new electric truck brand Tern, a joint product of Toyota Group and Tier 1 supplier Hexagon Purus, announced Hino Trucks for its exclusive distributor of the new electric trucks.
Hino Trucks brings together a network of more than 200 truck dealers in a joint venture with Hexagon, which is specifically focused on the electrification of commercial vehicles.
Glenn Ellis, President and CEO of Hino Trucks, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “Our collaboration with Hexagon Purus will offer the electric truck market a highly reliable 4x2 tractor that suits a wide range of applications,” he explained.
The new electric truck has a power tract with a power of 680 horsepower, a range of 340 kilometers and support for fast charging stations with a capacity of up to 240 kW. Power comes from a pair of Hexagon Purus Gen3 batteries with a capacity of 269 kWh in a 750-volt configuration.
It is known that series production of the Tern RC8 electric trucks is planned to start later this year, when the price of the new commercial electric vehicle will be known.
