Volkswagen is recalling more than 271,000 cars in the United States because of faulty wiring that could affect airbag operation.< /p>
This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
It is noted that a fault was found in the wiring that could cause the front passenger airbag to turn off when the seat is occupied.
The recall will affect specific 2021-2024 model year Atlas vehicles in which the Occupant Detection System (PODS) may be defective.
Volkswagen dealers will replace the PODS sensor pad and wire harness free of charge for affected customers, NHTSA says.
