Xiaomi won't make it easy to disable ads on its smartphones - 1

After a recent leak that Xiaomi was allegedly developing a system ad enable/disable method, a company representative denied this information. But the company has promised to reduce the number of pre-installed apps, which are often called bloatware.

Many Xiaomi phones offer good value for money, but in return owners have to put up with intrusive ads right in the user interface. Advertising can be disabled, but this requires a lot of manipulation.

A few years ago we even published a guide on how to minimize ads in system apps. The company itself previously promised to give up intrusive advertising, but did not keep its word.

Of course, a switch to system-wide advertising would be a more affordable and useful solution. Currently, users need to disable the MSA app, which is hidden deep in the settings menu.

However, this does not disable advertising in system apps, so you have to go to each app's settings menu (File Manager, Music, Downloads...) to disable it.

A recent leak claimed that Xiaomi is working on implementing a switch in the interface to get rid of system ads, but the company has denied this claim.

A Xiaomi representative answered journalists' questions on this topic. According to him, the company has “reoptimized its business strategy in this regard to improve user experience by reducing pre-installed applications. Users should see these results quite soon in our future flagships."

„However, our philosophy is to make changes that are easily accessible and useful to all users, so we currently have no plans to add a switch that will essentially only be discovered and used by a small number of users,” he added .

Users will certainly be disappointed that HyperOS or MIUI won't have a universal tool to disable system advertising in the near future.
