The company Continental announced the debut of its new development - an electric car called the Intelligent Vehicle Experience Car, which can recognize the driver and passengers and even answer the door for them.
The concept car uses biometric data to recognize them when they approach. More interestingly, the concept can interpret “facial features and movements“ and then perform certain actions based on the data received.
For example, if the car recognizes you and sees you walking to the trunk, it will be able to automatically open it for you. At this point, however, the trunk opens with a "virtual kick to the rear bumper".
When you're ready to get in the car, it can recognize your hand reaching for the door and unlock it. If a stranger approaches, the door will remain locked and the warning system will be activated.
Continental said these features could be put into series production in the next three to five years, as they combine artificial intelligence algorithms with sensors that are already widely available in cars. This would eliminate the need to carry an ignition key.
