The Polish Ministry of Defense is not ready to accept consultations from the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the drone incident that occurred on September 10.
This was written by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov in his Telegram channel.
„The Russian Ministry of Defense offered consultations, the Polish Ministry of Defense is not ready for them. It looks like a provocation or a misunderstanding that the Polish side does not want to clarify“, the statement said.
Ulyanov noted that “very elementary issues“ about why Russia might need to destabilize the situation in Poland, remain unanswered.
According to him, the conclusions about Russia's involvement in the incident are premature.
On the morning of September 10, the operational command of the Polish army announced the destruction of several objects identified as unmanned aerial vehicles and violating the country's airspace. According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, 19 airspace violations were recorded on the night of September 10. In connection with the incident, NATO, at the request of Poland, had triggered Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty to begin consultations between the members of the alliance.
As stated by the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of September 10, the Russian armed forces carried out strikes on enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr regions, as well as in Vinnytsia and Lviv. No targets were planned for destruction on Polish territory.
