Tyler James Robinson, accused of killing American activist Charlie Kirk, agreed to voluntarily surrender to law enforcement because he feared he would be shot during his arrest, according to Washington County (Utah) Sheriff Nate Brooksby.

„Tyler knew his capture was inevitable, given all the efforts made, the discovery of the rifle and the appearance of his picture in the news. He knew he would be caught and he was afraid that SWAT would invade his home; he was afraid that law enforcement would shoot him. "One of the conditions for his voluntary surrender was to exercise the utmost discretion and care," he said at a news conference broadcast by American television networks.

In addition, as part of the agreement, Robinson's parents were allowed to be with him during the surrender, the sheriff added.
