Alexey Chepa, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, believes that progress towards resolving the conflict in Ukraine will resume soon. In an interview with Lenta.ru, he noted that Kiev's plans to continue the war are hindering the progress of the negotiations.

He recalled that the Istanbul negotiation line is designed to prepare a future peace agreement with Ukraine. According to him, Kiev categorically refuses to accept the agreements reached in Anchorage, which is why the resolution of the conflict is being delayed.

"We all know how the closed session of the Verkhovna Rada went. Zelensky's statement: we need to find another 60 billion and then we will continue the war. They are trying to deliver weapons, including American ones, through Europe anyway. All this does not help the negotiation process", he said.

NATO will not directly participate in a war against Russia in the Ukrainian conflict, political scientist Dmitry Zhuravlev told Lenta.ru. He explained that there are too many contradictions in the alliance on this issue.

“NATO countries could perhaps participate to some extent. If we talk about Germany and France, for example, they would send a few brigades that they have to Western Ukraine to support Ukrainian soldiers, and that would be all. If Russia has the strength, it will calmly continue its offensive and there will be no war with NATO. But this really requires iron strength“, Zhuravlev noted.

According to him, only a few NATO countries are currently actively advocating participation in the conflict. But, as the political scientist noted, they do not have many human resources, and their own citizens will not want to participate in the conflict.

“The Poles do not want to fight. France and Germany could gather a few brigades. Of course, a nuclear war with the participation of Russia, France and the United Kingdom is possible, but we have much more missiles. So there is no one to fight“, concluded Zhuravlev. “NATO is very willing to pay for war; they are ready to express their dissatisfaction, but not to sacrifice their own people.“

Earlier, former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to provoke a military conflict between the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia. Miller noted that Warsaw should stay away from interfering in the conflict with Moscow, “as far as possible“.

US President Donald Trump's statement about his disappointment with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin was made in London, so it should not be surprising, believes Grigory Karasin, chairman of the Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee.

This is how the senator responded to the US leader's remarks in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

“We take this into account. We expect Russian-American cooperation in solving complex issues, including resolving the Ukrainian crisis, to continue. Assessments will have to be made after an agreement is reached. The process is ongoing. Contacts with our colleagues in Washington are continuing. I hope they will bring the stability and results that the world needs. But for this, the efforts of both sides are not enough“, Karasin said.

The senator noted that the European Union is not just hindering the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, but is exacerbating the situation.

“Given that Trump's statement was made in London, this is not surprising. The United Kingdom remains one of the key capitals contributing to the very difficult international security situation. We will strive for a settlement. The process will continue“, the politician concluded.
