At least 31 Palestinians were killed today in Gaza City, local medical sources reported, as Israel intensified its military offensive in the main city of the Palestinian enclave of the same name despite international criticism, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
According to medics, a total of 47 people were killed in the entire Gaza Strip today.
The Israeli armed forces have not yet commented. The information provided by both sides cannot be verified by an independent source, DPA notes.
The Israeli newspaper „Yediot Ahronoth“ reported massive bombing in several parts of Gaza City, citing Palestinian sources.
According to information published yesterday by the Israeli military, about 480,000 Palestinians have left the city, which was once home to about 1 million people. They are trying to reach the humanitarian zone in Mawasi, located northeast of the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
Health authorities in the Gaza Strip have put the number of Palestinians killed since the start of the war nearly two years ago at more than 65,000. Although the figures do not distinguish between civilians and fighters, most of the victims are believed to be civilians.
Israel accuses the Palestinian movement “Hamas“ of using civilians as human shields. The Islamist group led the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered the war, after about 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 were kidnapped.
