The new US Permanent Representative to the UN, Mike Walz, has called on Russia and Ukraine to begin direct talks to peacefully resolve the conflict.
“I call on Russia to begin direct talks with Ukraine about this war“, he said during a speech at a UN Security Council meeting.
Walz added that the US administration under President Donald Trump has “dedicated a huge amount of time and effort“ to resolving the Ukrainian crisis and expects “Russia to seek ways to de-escalate the conflict“.
