Peace depends on all of us, on all of you, on the United Nations. This was said by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today in his speech to the UN General Assembly, BTA reports.
„It depends on you whether you will help peace or continue to trade with Russia, whether the kidnapped children will return, whether the hostages will be released“, he said.
„It depends on you what will determine our existence – war or cooperation“, Zelensky added.
“Do not stand idly by while Russia continues to drag out the war, condemn it“, he urged.
“Join us in defending life, international law and order“, the Ukrainian president concluded, after which he was loudly applauded in the General Assembly hall.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated in his speech to the UN that even participation in a global organization does not guarantee the safety of a country.
On the issue of the war in Ukraine, he said that “international institutions are too weak and that is why this madness continues“.
Zelensky recalled the Russian drones that invaded the airspace of Estonia and Poland and said that “the global response is not enough“
In his speech, Zelensky also made a comparison between Georgia and Moldova.
“We have already lost Georgia. It is dependent on Russia. We cannot afford to lose Moldova as well“, he said. “Europe will pay a much higher price if it loses Moldova, and it must be supported with more than just statements,”, Zelensky warned.
The Ukrainian leader also spoke about the global arms race.
“Weapons decide who survives. The Taliban in Afghanistan have returned the country to dark times, and cartels in Latin America are more influential than governments,“ Zelensky stressed.
According to him, “the world is developing too slowly to be able to defend itself, and weapons are developing too quickly.“
“We are living in the most destructive arms race in history, because this time it includes artificial intelligence“, Zelensky warned.
According to him, “international cooperation for peace and security must be restored now.“
“In a few years it may be too late“, he warned.
