Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Szybiga invited US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to visit Ukraine at a suitable time, and his invitation was accepted, Ukrinform reported, citing a message from Szybiga on "Facebook" after the third day of general political debates within the framework of the 80th annual session of the UN General Assembly, BTA reported.
Szybiga noted that there were three key events yesterday – President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech at the General Assembly session, the fifth summit of the International Platform on Crimea and the restoration of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Syria.
He emphasized that he had ended the day with an important transatlantic meeting with all NATO allies at Rubio's invitation.
"I expressed gratitude for the principled position of US President Donald Trump. We discussed the next steps to strengthen Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia. After the meeting, I had the opportunity to speak with Marco (Rubio) personally about the implementation of the agreements agreed between our presidents. I invited my colleague to visit Ukraine at an appropriate time and I am grateful that he accepted this invitation," Sibiga wrote.
