Ukraine is ready to participate in the construction of the European "drone wall" - a project for enhanced protection of the airspace of the eastern flank of the EU and NATO. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmygal on the social network X.
Shmygal took part in a meeting on the creation of the initiative together with the Ministers of Defense of Denmark, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria, as well as with representatives of NATO. The meeting was chaired by European Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius.
"The repeated violations of our airspace are unacceptable. The message is clear: Russia is testing the EU and NATO. Our response must be clear, unified and immediate," Kubilius said, quoted by AFP.
According to European officials, the first goal is to build a network of sensors to enhance the ability to detect and intercept objects entering airspace. The first stage of the project is expected to be ready within a year.
